JANUARY 8th RESULTS FIRST XI It was a day for the club to savour as the beaver first XI celebrated the first win of the season and in doing so found some form that it hopes to carry into 2011. Skipper Kyle Snyman won the toss and chose to bat first in the one dayer against St.Johns Tecoma. Jarrod Moody (15) and David Hill (18) again both got starts to remove the shine of the new pill, then after that Kyle (34), Quenten Wells (18) and Tyden Latty (14) all kept the scoreboard ticking over. A key partnership for the seven wicket developed between returning Nick Whitty (54) and youngster Steve Moore (23). Nicks raw hitting and Steve's poise guided the team to a very competitive 8/189 of the allocated 45 overs. Speedster Tim Chivers started the ball rolling with the ball collecting an early wicket and after that the boys didn't look back dimmissing St Johns for 132. Kyle (4/13), Tim (3/22) and Steve (2/25) were the pick of the bowlers. It was also a solid display in the field lead by first XI debutant wicket-keeper Lewis Ferguson. SECOND XI The good news didn't end there as the second XI continued on the winning way making it 5 straight and cementing a spot in the top four. Fielding one of their better teams all year the boys headed out to St. johns and were put into the field after losing the toss. In a polished bowling and fielding display the boys dismissed St.Johns for 140. The wickets were shared with Paul Hare, Adam Kinniburgh and Jason Hawkins picking up 2 a peice. In reply the beavers had little trouble chasing down the total in just 31 overs. This was largely thank to Rob Binks (72 not out) and he was ably supporte by both Scott Peatling (29) and Jack Ricardo (27 not out). All teams return to the field this week.. so lets take this momentum and take onto the training track this week.. Dec 4th – One Dayer
A humid and steamy Saturday greeted the beavers in a one-dayer shortened by the washout a week earlier. The First XI hosted Knoxfield in a return bout form their round one clash. Knoxfield won the toss and batted first posting 7/195 off their allocated 45 overs. The beavers bowled well early but some solid hitting in Knoxfield’s lower order allowed them to post an impressive total. Debutant Tony McIvor finished with 3/45 off 8 overs to be the pick of the bowlers. In reply the beavers were restricted to 3/134 with Quenten Wells (51 not out) and Kyle Snyman (30) the top scorers. The Second XI headed out to Millers reserve to play Knox’s first XI. In an extraordinary bowling performance Nic Glenister finished with 5 wickets for just 6 runs (all bowled) to play a major part in routing Knox for just 46. Playing a support act, Paul Hare and Blair Neill each finished with 2 wickets as well. In reply the beavers got home in just 21 overs and only lost two late wickets. Openers Tim Moore (25 not out) and Tim Binks (17) enjoyed most of the time in the middle. The Third XI hosted Upwey and were all out for 106 after winning the toss and batting first. Dave Armstrong and Matt Price top scored with 20 and 19 runs respectively. In reply Upwey managed to pass the score in just 25 overs. Mark Thompson and Steve Anderton were the only wicket takers. The Fourth XI hosted Belgrave at Stud Park and were sent into bat by the opposition. The beavers managed 9/124 off their allocated overs with Jarrod Mills top scoring with 32. In reply Belgrave got home in 36 overs with Lachie Bowers (2/17) and Jarrod Van Mourik (2/29) the pick of the bowlers. The Fifth XI had an injection of new players and headed to Eildon Park for the local derby. Eildon managed 9/180 off their allocated overs with Chris Cullimore picking up 2 wickets. In reply the beavers were all out for 134 with Cullimore (39), Bras (23) and Middleton (23) the pick of the batters. The Sixth XI had to sit this one out as the other team forfeited Nov 20th – One Dayer On a surprisingly sunny day all beaver teams played one-dayers due to the first week of the round being a washout. The First XI hosted Mountain Gate and were sent into the field first up. All bowlers toiled hard without much luck before the skipper Kyle Snyman (2/33 off 9) removed both openers. Then Tyden Latty bowling his part time off- spin claimed 5/34 off 7 overs, as Mountain Gate complied 7/173 off their allocated overs. The beavers started well with the bat but fell away in the middle order to be all out for 142. Jarrod Moody (40) and Steve Moore (20) top scored. The Second XI became the form team of Beaverland after travelling to South Belgrave for a second win in a row. Batting first the beavers compiled 7/137 off 45 overs. Tim Binks (21) and Jack Ricardo (20) set a solid platform for Tony McIvor, who was in complete control for a well made 70 not out. In reply South Belgrave were all out for 124. All bowlers contributed with a wicket with Nic Glenister (3/23) and Tim Carter (2/24) the pick of the bunch. The Third XI travelled to the familiar surrounds of stud park for an away game against Eildon Park. The beavers batted first and compiled 9/102 off their 45 overs. None of the batsmen got past a start as Paul Moore top scored with 14. In response Eildon made 5/118 with Jason Hawkins chiming in with 2 wickets for the beavers. The Fourth XI travelled out to Monbulk Secondary and were sent into the field by Monbulk. Monbulk made 8/222 off their 45 overs with Captain Kia Boatman (4/38) the pick of the bowlers. In reply the beavers were all out for 177. Top scorers were Jake Greenard (66) and Brad Papworth (43 not out). The Fifth XI again had to sit this one out as the other team forfeited. The Sixth XI continued on their winning ways against Ferntree Gully. The beavers restricted the Gully to 9/160 off their 40 overs with Doughty (4/18) the pick of the bowlers. In reply the boys smashed 178 off just 24 overs. Doughty, Bras and Semple were amongst the runs. Oct 30th and Nov 6th Results This round saw a rain interrupted first days play, which lead to all matches being in intriguing situations heading into the second week. The First XI headed down to South Belgrave to play out a drawn match hampered by the weather on day one. After a slow start the beavers managed 8/203 off the allocated 80 overs. Steve Finch (45) and Scott Peatling (36) combined to turn the innings around before Rob Binks and Tim Chivers guided the team to 80 overs. In a shortened innings the beavers restricted South to 5/112 with Chivers, Neill and Binks taking the wickets. The Second XI picked up their first win for the year over Mountain Gate at home. Mountain Gate could only manage 112 with Nick Glenister and Adam Kinnaburgh picking up three wickets each. Tim Binks has a solid day in the field with 5 catches from second slip. The beavers had some nervous moments but chased down the total before day twos play came to a close. Tim Binks (43) and Jack Ricardo (23) were the top scorers. The Third XI had a solid game at Park Ridge convincingly defeating Rowville. The beavers dismissed Rowville for 82 with Tyson Jones (4/12) the main destroyer. Tyson then produced 38 with the bat as the beavers complied 174 all out. The Fourth XI could only managed 55 with the bat against Mountain Gate. In the second week Mountain Gate managed to pass that score with the loss of only on wicket. The Sixth XI continued on their winning ways against Eildon Park. Stubbs and Paul Bras were amongst the runs in Lysterfield’s 133. Whilst Stubbs grabbed 3 wickets in Eildon 118. Oct 3rd Results The season began with lysterfield's top two teams battling knoxfield in a re-scheduled one-dayer on a sunday after the grand final replay. The beaver 1st XI contained three young debutants; pace bowler Blair Neill, middle order batsmen Jack Ricardo and classy all-rounder Steve Moore. All three have been or are a part of the beaver junior program. The beavers toiled hard bowling first but Knoxfield managed to compile 3/260 off their 45 overs. Blair managed to capture his debut first XI wicket with a edge caught by Tim Binks in gully. In response the beavers started well but we could only manage 8/168 off our 45 overs. The innings was highlighted by the superb 102 not out by Jarrod Moody. Moods carried his bat all innings in a very mature and destructive innings. The 2nd XI started their campaign at home under captain Tim Carter. The beavers bowled very well restricting Knoxfield to 8/147 off their 45 overs. Ben Manning (3/30) and young Tim Moore (1/15 off 9) were impressive with the ball. In response the beavers innings started well with all the top four batsmen getting starts but fell away in the late overs to be all out for 135. The evergreen Warwick Peluso topscored with 58. This week sees all beaver two-day sides on the park for some one-day action and a chance for some first wins of the season.
October 10th Results The 1st XI played their first home game for the year against Knox Gardens at Lakesfield. The beavers were sent into the field and produced a polished bowling display. The beavers got continual wickets to have Knox Gardens all out for 122 in the 44th over. Juzzy Carland (1/14 off 9), Blair Neill (2/28 off 9) and Steve Moore (2/13 off 6) were the stars with the ball whilst two run outs (Binksy + Wellsy) highlighted a solid fielding display. In reply the beavers struggled with the bat and fell agonisingly close finishing all out for 119 in the last over. Dave Hill made 22 early but the game was almost saved by Tim Chivers (24) and contributions from the other tailenders. The 2nd XI travelled to Knox Gardens and chose to bat first. The beavers only compiled 108 with Warwick Peluso (52) and Steve Finch (29) the only bats to fire. In response the beavers toiled hard but Knox Gardens managed to reel in the total in 38 overs. Brad Price grabbed his first 2ndXI wicket on debut. The 3rd XI headed to Park Ridge with a solid looking outfit with names such as Moore, Kinniburgh and Morris. The boys sent in Upper Gully and conceeded 8/153 off their 45 overs. Paul Moore (3/34), Mark Thompson (3/13 off 9) and young Dylan Ricardo (2/14) were the wicket takers. In reply the beavers cruised to victory in the 43rd over. Dean Nicolopoulos made 63 not out and was supported well by Donga Morris and Juzzy D'Rosario. A young 4thXI hosted Eildon Park at Stud Park. The beavers won the toss and sent in Eildon Park who made 8/114 off their 45 overs. Matty Dawson (3/20) and wiley vet Greg Azzorpardi (2/12) were the pick of the bowlers. In reply the beavers could only manage 107 all out. Jake Greenard (33) and Azza (21) were the top scorers. The 5th XI batted first against Footballers and were all out for 116, with perenial top scorers Simon Grimston making 41. In reply the Footballers made 287 with Grimo taking man of the match honours with 4 wickets added to his batting display. The 6thXI moved into B1 division this year but kept up their winning ways dismissing St Johns Tecoma for just 52. Chris Cullimore (3/4) and Brassy (2/10) were the pick of the bowlers.
