Round 3 Senior Report |
A bad day for the club saw all five teams come home with a loss for the first time in a long time. with many experienced senior players returning this week I'm sure will see a dramatic turnaround next round. The firsts went down again for their 3rd loss in a row making it an uphlil battle from this point forward. We all know our club is built on the never say die attitude and it is only a matter of time before our first win and the start of the roller coaster ride to the top. Upwey managed to notch up 253 in reply to our solid 232 and walked away with the points this week. The stand outs with the ball were Tim Emmett with 3/19 off his 11.2 overs and Demo with his 3/64 off 16. Sean Alston chimed in with 2/46 (15) and Burdo & Binks got 1 apiece. We looked good with 7/150 but a massive 70 run, 7th wicket stand sat Upwey take the honours passing us 8 wickets down. Chris Hill's 112 makes him the only beaver to notch up a ton in Knox Tavern Cup. His current form is great and if his mates can rally around him we will be a force this year. Demo chimed in with a good 52 and Seany, Zeegs, Binksy and Burdo did a great job at the end to bat out the overs.? In the seconds David Hill was the only player to stand up last week making 57 of a total of 112 which wasn't enough to hold off a determined Upwey. On 0/27 overnight they went on to win quite comfortably finally finishing the day all out for 177. Greg Dean dominated with the ball taking 5/35 off 15 with Buckers finishing the day with 2/36. The thrids played Footballers at St Jo's and struggled to put up a fight. Chasing 227 we never really looked in the race finishing up with a meagre 122. Thiely held his bat well putting on 34 with Azza fighting strong putting a well fought out 27. The only other mentions are Donga Morris with 17, Sam Walsh 14 and Tyson Jones put on 12. With the ball Kier managed 3/60 off 18 with Azza becoming the clubs leading wicket taker with a stellar 3/22. Moray also stood uppwith a solid 2/49 off 18. The 4ths were never in the race at Park Ridge with only a few members putting their hands up to stop the onslaught. After putting on 130, the boys just couldn't stave off the strong UFTG line up and lost convincingly when they put on 271. Week one saw Thommo bat well with a well fought 36 and Hawko put on a solid 23 but support was lacking after that. In defence there were no standouts, Hawko and Pauly both taking 2 wickets apiece and singles to Peatling, Burke and Carter. The 5ths were never really in the contest at Eildon Park going down early in the day. After putting 93 Eildon Park answered with 162 and in the 2nd innings we managed to put on another 148. Grimmo batted well in the first innings putting on 27 with Ross and Lowe the only other batters notching up double figures with 18 and 13 respectively. The second innings was a slightly better story with Ross putting on 53, Spark 28 and Moore put on 26 not out. There are no bowling stats available at the time of publishing.
