Captain Sean 'Jesse' Alston produced a vintage display of spin bowling to finish with 5/39. He was ably supported by both TC and Kyle who bowled tight, wicket taking spells. A special mention goes to the perfomance of Dean 'DonGGA' Morris who wicket-kept superbly in his first game up this year
The second week began with the beavers confident in the run chase. DonGGA and Pebble got of to a great start and saw off the opening bowlers. Batting at three, Sean batting solidly making 44 in a great captains knock. Batting superstar Kyle Snyman again top scored with 90 and was only out late when trying to get to triple figures. A proffesional win by the team and all players are looking forward to taking this momentum into 2010. After a shaky start they recovered to post a competitive 182. Nick Whitty and Shane 'Walk the talk' Donellan combined for a middle order partnership to steer the score in the right direction. Belgrave went one down on day one due to a run out by lappas and the game is evenly poised
On day 2, a very stiff Matthew'Plank' Harvey took the reasonably new ball and bowled superbly to guide the 2ndXI to victory. He grabbed 3/19 off 21 overs and impressed many in just his second game at this level. Ben 'Captain Courageuos' Manning and Adam 'Constable' Kinnibirgh also took three wickets each as Belgrave finished on just 117. Then young dynamo Jack Ricardo drove the team home with an amazing knock of 146. Jack batted superbly and has again shown his potential for the higher grades. Stevie Moore and Monnas also both added needed support as the boys raced past the Upper Gully score. On day 2, the chase started poorly as the team sunk to 5/37. Then in one of the best fightbacks seen this year, the sixth wicket parnership went unbeaten for 200 runs. Les Plunkett plundered the attack, smashing 151 not out. He was ably supported by Adrian 'Worm' Jilich who made 34*. The second win on the trot for the boys and a great effort for such a young side.
