ROUND 7

Knox Tavern Cup

The 1st XI hosted Belgrave and manged to restrict the visitors to 178 on day one. Captain Sean 'Jesse' Alston produced a vintage display of spin bowling to finish with 5/39. He was ably supported by both TC and Kyle who bowled tight, wicket taking spells. A special mention goes to the perfomance of Dean 'DonGGA' Morris who wicket-kept superbly in his first game up this year

The second week began with the beavers confident in the run chase. DonGGA and Pebble got of to a great start and saw off the opening bowlers. Batting at three, Sean batting solidly making 44 in a great captains knock. Batting superstar Kyle Snyman again top scored with 90 and was only out late when trying to get to triple figures. A proffesional win by the team and all players are looking forward to taking this momentum into 2010.

The 2ndXI packed their overnight bags for the long trip to Menzies Creek to take on Belgrave. After a shaky start they recovered to post a competitive 182. Nick Whitty and Shane 'Walk the talk' Donellan combined for a middle order partnership to steer the score in the right direction. Belgrave went one down on day one due to a run out by lappas and the game is evenly poised

On day 2, a very stiff Matthew'Plank' Harvey took the reasonably new ball and bowled superbly to guide the 2ndXI to victory. He grabbed 3/19 off 21 overs and impressed many in just his second game at this level. Ben 'Captain Courageuos' Manning and Adam 'Constable' Kinnibirgh also took three wickets each as Belgrave finished on just 117.

The 3rdXI travelled to the small upper-gully 3 ground and toiled hard all day to dismiss the opposition for 264. Tyson 'Dishevelled' Jones was the star of the day with 4 wickets. The boys left day one still confident in the run chase on the small ground.

Day two brought about a great run chase by the 3rdXI. The guys started a bit shaky but recovered with names like Peatling and D'Rosario getting the innings back on track. Then young dynamo Jack Ricardo drove the team home with an amazing knock of 146. Jack batted superbly and has again shown his potential for the higher grades. Stevie Moore and Monnas also both added needed support as the boys raced past the Upper Gully score.

Day 2 saw the 4thXI glide past the small required total. Bushell, Lima, Thompson and Neil all got amongst the runs. The 4thXI continues to be very impressive this year and must now look at maintaining this success after christmas.

Div 7

After last weeks amazing outright victory the 5thXI headed out to dobson park full of confidence. With bags lining the boundary in replacement of cones, the boys restricted upper gully to 229. The pick of the bowlers was young under 17 Dean Harris.

On day 2, the chase started poorly as the team sunk to 5/37. Then in one of the best fightbacks seen this year, the sixth wicket parnership went unbeaten for 200 runs. Les Plunkett plundered the attack, smashing 151 not out. He was ably supported by Adrian 'Worm' Jilich who made 34*. The second win on the trot for the boys and a great effort for such a young side.

Traplin 31

The ones returned to Beaverland for a crucial game of the season. In a tough day the team toiled to have St Johns finish on 310 after 80 overs. Steve Anderton impressed on debut picking up three crucial wickets.  The run chase never really got going as only Snyman and Traplin showed any form with the bat. The boys now look forward to a big three weeks.

Carland 3/27

In an important game to help maintain touch with the top four, the 2ndXI responded well to dismiss St Johns for 147. An amazingly tight opening spell from Carland and Burdon set the pace for the day and the boys were then able to take consistent wickets. Juzzy and young gun Steve Moore were the pick of the bowlers with three a peice. The good form did not last into the second week of the game as the 2's batsmen missed a great oppurtunity for a win. A solid knocks from Dave Hill and Scotty Peatling were the only highlights.

Div 5
Eildon Park 7/409 vs Lysterfield 54 & 104

A very, very tough challenge awaits the 3rdXI next week. The young team toiled hard but Eildon Park managed to post 409 on the board.
